Helen Adams

I ran away to sea
And relinquished control.

It was where I needed to be,

Restlessness drove me there
Searching for something not here.
Peace of mind.
Chaos and uncertainty were like waves washing over me,
A storm raged within me
Exhausting me
Sending me one way
Then another
without direction.

And from this life of uncertainty,
I found a vessel of sanctuary,
Where there was only diversity
But where we found prosperity
In the face of adversity.
Tenacious.

The ship was my nest
The winds were my guide
The horizon my future
Dolphins played by my side.

I was Nurtured,
Part of something Bigger than each of us alone
And I felt safe
Safe to let go
The unknowable can stay that way.
The future will be.
And I emerged and grew
In that safety
Held safely in hands so strong and sure
That I trusted they would catch me if I fell too far.
